The session
The Kite foil allows you to sail in very light conditions and considerably extend your sailing range.
You will be able to sail easily from 12 knots and from 8 knots with a little more technique. This support will also allow you to start surfing a small house and appreciate a new type of riding that can be fully exploited in Wingfoil.
- For impatient people wishing to extend their low sailing ranges and wishing to almost no longer wait for the wind to sail.
- For adventurers wishing to expand their navigation areas. You will go upwind twice as easily.
- For those with painful knees and wanting to avoid as much shock as possible due to contact with the board on the water.
- For those who are cold and want to sail one meter above the water and avoid contact with cold water in winter.
- For those who want to spend hours sailing effortlessly.
- For surfers who think that the swell cannot be surfed…
The objectives depend on the level of each person and the weather conditions.
- In shallow water : Navigation under power and handling of the foil on the beach.
On the sandbar or in shallow water, we will learn to generate more powerful traction with a faster frequency by exploiting the entire flight window. Depending on the conditions, kitefoil sailing will require good steering under power. Skill also accessible on our “light wind” course. We will then see how to get into the water safely with your foil to limit the risk of injury and breakage of your equipment.
- Floating near the sandbank : Recovering your foil in water depth and safety relating to foil navigation.
If your piloting is good, we will handle the hydrofoil and the kite while floating in 1m to 1m50 of water, close to the sandbank. We’ll make sure you’re proficient in side-to-side swimming. There is no board leash in our school, you must master this skill to be able to recover your foil in the event of loss in deep water. Before heading out into the open water we will remind you when to use the safety system and the precautions to take with a hydrofoil.
In deep water : PRACTICE.
The last part of the session takes place in deep water. This is the most fun if the skills above are mastered. Otherwise you risk wasting some time and a lot of energy. The boat will assist you and take you back regularly to areas with as little chop as possible to encourage the next stages of progression :
- Waterstart
- First edges board flat
- Initiation of the flight.
- Maintain flight with as few waves as possible in order to get you out of the water.

And after ?
The “Kite Foil” session requires you to take a safety course before you start sailing without supervision. Ask for a “Kite safety” course focused on “foiling”. You must master certain concepts specific to this medium. Creation of a navigation plan and mastery of self-rescue as a last resort. Your removal faster and easier than with other media will inevitably lead to greater engagement. You need to realize it and plan for it.
